WOW, it has been a gnarly (that’s right, I’m from LA) cold season!
Here are my Top 10 Herbal Must-Haves for getting through it AND beyond.

1) For helping me get well faster: Four Thieves oil blend (aka many other names depending on the company) is a must have at this time of year. I diffuse it in our house and put it on our feet in the Am and PM, and have seen a significant decrease in colds in our home and in recovery time from any illness. This link takes you to the Four Thieves oil I purchase on Amazon. I also dilute this in a facial toner bottle and spray on my family’s faces when we are outside of the houses (indispensable when you are in airports and airplanes!)

2) For the oil: An Ultrasonic Diffuser: I prefer ultrasonic because no heat is generated unlike with candles. Here is my favorite ultrasonic diffuser on Amazon. It can run for 10-hours straight and has an ultra fine mist so the surrounding furniture never feels damp. The colored light has about 15-options including OFF which is my favorite.
3) For clearing up ear congestion (and ear wax): I buy mine by the gallon and find that putting it in my ears helps to clear-up my sinuses quicker. 1-Gallon Hydrogen Peroxide on Amazon
4) Nasal Congestion: Thank goodness for neti pots! I do this in the AM and PM and it helps me sleep at night and clear up my sinuses quickly and gently. Use well-boiled water (I boil mine for 5-minutes) or distilled water. Warm water is more soothing than cold! Add a bit of sea salt and xylitol for maximum cleansing and moisturizing. Here is the neti pot I use on Amazon. For the xylitol: I purchase USA-grown xylitol on Amazon
5) Nasal Spray for Allergies and Congestion: My child is too young to use a neti pot. I’ve had great success with the following two nasal sprays both in clearing up congestion and in helping to mitigate bloody noses. Here is the nose spray on Amazon that has helped us with bloody noses and here is the nose spray that we use for congestion on Amazon.

6) Lice Prevention: I spray this on my little’s hair every day and we’ve never had to deal with lice! This is the lice prevention spray I use on Amazon.
7) Urinary Tract Health: We were literally a couple of blocks from urgent care with a crying baby, when we stopped at an herb shop. The herbalist there recommended this d-manoose supplement and within 12-hours our baby was cry-free and peeing like a champ. Various family members have used it all together a half-dozen other times always with great success.
8) For skin burns: An Aloe Plant. Nothing soothes my skin like a fresh aloe leaf. Whether you get windburn, sun burn or your skin is irritated from laser hair removal, fresh aloe gel is the best. Keep one of these easy to grow plants in your home and give them as housewarming or host gifts! Make sure you purchase an Aloe Barbadensis plant (aka Aloe Vera) as they have those lovely, fat moisture-filled stems. Do be aware that if you have a pet that licks you a lot, part of the aloe gel is toxic for them. Read more here.
9) For bruses and pain relief: Arnica gel is amazing on all kinds of inflammation. It’s not greasy and rubs in easily. Get arnica gel on Amazon here.
10) Healing baths: I find that a hot bath helps me to burn up whatever is inside of me and get me better faster! To make the most of my baths I add a tablespoon of powdered ginger and a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Experiment with how much you can tolerate, too much essential oil will irritate your skin!
